A while ago, we created threads and asked you to send us all of your questions regarding the server merge. We’re happy to say while our dev team has been working on optimizing the Merge process, we’ve reviewed all your feedback and prepared a list of the most asked questions and answered all of them.
As with all new features and changes, a Beta test will be due, which will be started in 1-2 weeks from now. You will find more information in the Q&A document shared above.
On a separate topic, something that struck our attention was the recent reports we received from some of you who were not able to use the Anniversary Vendor and exchange your tokens. Our plan is to activate it one additional week, starting July 22nd, to make sure everyone has a chance to make use of it.
General Timing & Process
- When’s the plan for this after the vote?
The final plan is constantly shaping and will be finalized once we move past the Beta Stage. The team has been working hard on optimizing and testing the severe Merge process. Concrete details for the official Merge execution on Live servers will be shared in advance, after the Open Beta testing is concluded. - How long do we have until this potentially happens?
The merge evaluation begins immediately post-Beta, and preparation with technical rollout is expected within 4–8 weeks. If there are no complications or critical issues. - When will the official server merges be announced?
Merges will be confirmed within 1-3 weeks post-Beta, following internal review and validation. - Is there a general timeline for this? Weeks, months, or years?
The target timeline is weeks, not months or years. Merge execution is currently looked at as a Q3 2025 deliverable. But it won’t be executed at once, instead on multiple phases, including between 1-4 merges at a time and post merge evaluation period. - Can we be notified of who we are merging with at least a month before the merge?
Yes, after the Beta the team will be evaluating the state of the merges and the community feedback, before finalizing the list of affected servers. Once ready, we will share more information for all affected servers. - Will there be a Beta test?
Yes, a minimum 1 open beta merge test will be conducted prior to full deployment, and your feedback will be important. - Any ETA for the Beta?
ETA for beta is 1-2 weeks post Q&A sharing.
Merge Mechanics & Design
- Why not merge 3 or 4 servers together instead of 2?
We prioritized 2-server merges to preserve loot system stability and avoid cultural clash. Select 3-server merges were considered, but paused for further consideration if required. - Are we fixed to just these 4 version merges, or is there open discussion on other potential pairings?
We haven’t been limited to the 4 original versions. The final list reflects player feedback + KPI + loot compatibility analysis.
10. Why not allow server transfers instead of merging?
While server transfers create imbalanced migration, merges allow systematic ecosystem management and performance optimization. Server transfers are not discarded from the picture, but at that time are more complex to setup due to various of reasons.
11. Why wasn’t server nomination an option in the voting?
To prevent biased stacking and ensure fairness, structured proposals were used to guide the discussion and combined with further server analysis. While your feedback and preferences are crucial, there is also other data considered.
12. Is it possible to opt out or stand alone if the resulting poll gives us a server we don't agree with?
Only designated high-activity servers like Epona or Arawn, and a few others are considered standalone at this point. Others will be part of the merges unless exceptional criteria or high conflicts are present.
13. Why not merge two servers first and observe the outcome before doing more?
While multiple merges will be executed at once. The Merges will be executed in multiple phases, assuring time to evaluate post-merge server's state, performance, etc. First merges are likely to affect the least active servers with priority. to find new homes for them so everyone can enjoy the game’s content.
Voting System
14. Will Epona players be able to vote if they are not part of the merge? 15. Can you prevent people from abusing the Google Form by voting on someone else's behalf? 16. Should voting be restricted to level 220+ characters to reduce alt spam?
All feedback was collected and considered while polishing the list of servers for Merging. Unfortunately, there is always a chance that players from other servers or low-level characters may share opinions on other servers. Everyone is important and part of the voting, and your feedback is a big part of the process, especially in the early stages, which helped us to see players sentiment about the Merging servers and further polish the list of merging servers.
Character Handling
17. What happens if I have toons on the same account in servers that get merged?
All characters will remain. You will access them from an updated character list post-merge.
18. If I have 6 characters on one server and 5 on another (same account), will all 11 appear on one character screen?
Yes. No characters will be lost.
19. What will happen to players who have the same toon name on merged servers?
The older character will retain the name. The other will receive an extra letter added to its name.
20. Will players with duplicate names get to change their names?
Yes, free name changes will be issued to any character that loses a name conflict. Such requests will be taken care via tickets to our CS Team to update/change the affected character name post-merge. This will be a process that might take some time due to the potential volume of such cases/requests. So please be patient, we will do our best to be fair to everyone.
21. Who gets priority in name conflicts - earliest created or something else?
The earliest creation date on the account/server will determine priority.
Clan & Server Naming
22. What happens if multiple clans have the same name?
Same rule as for characters: the older clan keeps the name; the other will receive an extra letter and is prompted for a rename.
23. Will server names change after the merge? 24. What will the new names for merged servers be?
Merged servers will get the name of one of the merging servers (the bigger server is expected to keep the name post-merge), while the other one will be discarded. Those will be announced in advance prior to their merges. During the Beta, merged servers will include both server names.
Gameplay & Balance
25. Will endgame (EG) boss drop rates increase post-merge?
Spawn logic and drops are under review, but as of now, there are no immediate changes that will take place post-merge.
26. Will boss spawn times be reduced?
The general events cycle will continue to be an essential part of the calendar. Everything else will be part of and discussed during the post-merge stage.
27. Will EDL/DL timers, lix rooms, Banished/Illusion, meteor/frozen mobs change?
Map density adjustments are in talks, especially for the main questline gameplay. Some areas could have some changes, but this will not be part of the mergers. The team is following all feedback and suggestions that you are sharing and this is something always part of our conversations.
28. Will there be any changes to gear distribution systems?
Not directly, but server loot system compatibility is essential and used to pair servers. Players are encouraged to adopt shared rules post-merge.
29. Will merged servers receive more drops to match the increased player base?
As of now, there are no significant changes planned to take place during the Merging phase. If any changes are to take place they will be part of future gameplay and content updates. We would like to strongly continue sharing your ideas about improving the game’s gameplay.
Technical Questions
30. Is there a way to guarantee that increasing server population won’t cause more lag?
Yes, during the selection process, Epona stats are being used as a crucial benchmark. VoA - is currently ongoing performance optimizations and will have performance tuning soon.
31. Is it expected to reduce lag since there will be fewer servers?
This is something that never stops; the team continues to work on performance optimizations.
32. How were the server pairings made?
For this purpose, the team has created a server health evaluation system that includes a mix of:
- Active and key player metrics
- EG Boss engagements
- AH & Clan Activity
- Community feedback & culture compatibility
- and more
33. Is it technically possible to create a new server and let players transfer over time?
Yes, this and also Server transfers may be considered in the future, but no concrete promises at this time.
Community & Retention
34. Will support be prepared for merge-related bugs?
The team is, and will be, fully dedicated to addressing any unforeseen problems or bugs post-merges.
35. Will character integrity, names, items, mail, clans, and accounts all be preserved?
Absolutely. The team has been constantly working on polishing the Merging process to ensure there is no loss of data. All names, gear, progress, and mail will be retained or migrated cleanly.
