Celtic Heroes

When I use the gele axe skill, it only shows me a big white stripe. I know that the effect used to look different before the winter update where you could see a huge lightning crashing down on enemies. I don't know if OTM changed the look of the skill or is this a kind of an error? If the look of the skill was unintentional is it possible to fix it. I really loved how the skill looked like

I just got an entry level gelebron axe. It *seemed* to work once and show a lightning animation, but now it seems to neither have a visible or actual effect.
The cool down indicator works, but it seems to never actually decrease hit points in foes. Is my axe broken?
