Celtic Heroes

Could anyone tell me how you choose which slot each ring goes to or does the swap go to the same spot every time? I have played since 2011 so I'm not used to swapping and have never really used it because of that so any and all help is appreciated. Also tips to get acclimated if any would be great as well.

In the case of multislot sections(brace/rings), it always swaps the one on the left/topleft.
