What's happening?
Currently the Celtic Heroes servers run on an outdated infrastructure and as part of our upgrades we want to move everything to the cloud. This will give us greater control over server performance and monitoring, and it should bring stability improvement to all our players down the line. This is of course a large undertaking and we want to test it as thoroughly as possible.
We need your help to test!
In order to do larger scale performance and stress testing, we need as many people to join the testing environment as possible. We have created an open beta through the Google Beta version for you to download, so that anyone who is on an android device can join in on the testing. Unfortunately if you are on an apple device, you will not be able to take part in this test.
How to sign up?
If you are on an android device, you can head to the normal Celtic Heroes Play Store page here and then choose the “Join the beta” option to download the beta client and log in with your normal Celtic Heroes account. Please keep in mind that this will overwrite your current live client and in order to switch back to the live client, you will need to unsubscribe from the beta version and fully download the live version again.
What do you get for helping?
First and foremost you will help us ensure that we have a smooth transition from the current infrastructure to the cloud, not interrupting anyone’s gameplay more than required. Secondly, we of course want to reward you for your time and dedication. Anyone who logs in and performs several of the requested tasks below will be rewarded with 100 platinum on the live servers. We will also randomly choose three winners among all the participants to receive 1,000 Platinum! The rewards will be given during one of the upcoming downtimes.
How to best test?
Simply put, the more time you spend on the test servers and the more actions you perform the better. More specifically, here are some things we would like you to do during your time on the test servers:
Move between areas
Use the auction house, both selling and buying
Create support tickets
Send in game mails
Kills bosses
Level up old and new characters
Use merchants
Use the tavern
Take part in PvP
You will have your normal live characters to play with, though as we are running on a separate server, you will see that your characters are a copy of how they were about a month ago and the same with your passwords. You can choose to play on any server and any character during the beta. Please keep in mind that any accounts created will be only on this test server and no progression of any kind carries over to the live servers. Real money transactions will not be available. We have given 500 platinum to all accounts who have logged on since Dec 1st 2021 to use as you want during the beta. You can spend whatever platinum you have on your account and it will not impact your platinum on the live servers.
When is this happening?
The beta will run from this Wednesday March 23rd 5PM CET till this Friday 5pm CET, during which you can log in anytime. Again, the more the better even if it's just idling at your favorite spot.
We do want to have a more concentrated stress test where we would like as many people as possible to log on into the Epona test server on Thursday 9PM CET (8PM UTC, 4PM EST/GMT-4) for about an hour. During this time we will be joining you on the server and you can find us in Farcrag Castle, where we will be answering some questions and also hold a small quiz with platinum as a reward!
