DPS Warrior

#1
I was wondering how a warrior's damage compares to a Rogue, Ranger and Mage in both levelling and end-game?

I have been levelling mainly my warrior and i do enjoy him, where i would like to eventually try tanking i am wondering how the damage output compares?

It’s not as good as a ranger or rogue, though they aren’t terrible like people seem to make them out to be. They lack a edl dps offhand and the sword isn’t really a weapon of choice for warriors so they lack a dps mainhand in a sense as well. So for endgame bossing they aren’t the best and usually need good gear to be good dps. In terms of lvling they are pretty powerful dps, I was one, but rogues will most likely still out dps a warrior while lvling.

Warriors bossing dps isn't really that good tbh. Although since they do not die as much as rogues and rangers they can get some extra damage in by staying alive most of the time. For lixing their dps is actually pretty good though, They are amazing to lvl with since they have shatter and r automatically a bit tanky even as full str.

My dps is pretty good but I have really good gear. We can get pure damage higher but warriors are very limited when it comes to speed. Speed tends to determine dps lol. Plus rangers/rogues specialize in pierce damage which trumps a warriors usual slash damage.
Michael Artisan - Warrior, Blake Artisan - Rogue, Ren Artisan - Ranger, Gabriel Artisan - Mage, Yaray (until VR let's me add Artisan to the name) - Druid

Warriors miss out on dps for a few of reasons. First, dl/edl armour doesn’t give elemental damage like rogue and ranger armour. Thats free damage for them. Unless you’ve got DG pieces, warriors are behind the dps game when it comes to armour. Secondly, two of the better dps weapons for chaos/non chaos mobs require a slash lure to bring warrior dps back up to par. EDL sword on chaos mobs with its decent damage and divine procs, and shadow+ Gele axes elsewhere. Better auto damage, and decent speed with an axe, but doesn’t hit like it should due to low chance of a slash lure.

Third, no true offhand DPS quest weapon. Sure the dl/edl shield adds divine damage, but both ranger and rogue offhand offer divine damage and really good skills that come with them.

Unfortunately otm kinda had one direction in mind with warriors....tanking. Don’t get me wrong, warrior dps is decent overall, but decent doesn’t mean fantastic.

If OTM were to branch out and make classes more dynamic there’d be a lot more happier customers. If they’d create more options for quest weapons or divine type offhand we’d be singing a different tune.

I’d love to see some variations/adaptations of classes from other games.

Warriors I could see:
barbarian, specializing in heavy blunt/axe/2 handed swords, dishing hard hitting autos with a bit slower weapons
paladin, kind of your traditional tank with some minor healing ability and self buffs
shadow knight, similar to paladin but more dps/hybrid, uses a shield but has offensive abilities
duellist, specialist in 2 handed swords

Now that would add quite a few new skills to warriors alone, but would allow for a variety of builds, choices and open up a whole plethora of fun. Each “class” type would have unique skills that can only be used with certain weapons etc. not necessarily a skill tree like in OaC, but adding new weapons/skills to the game.

My 216 warrior currently is:
Full edl
Dark champions helm
Imp str vit def Proto bracer
Imp armour attack melee hrung bracer
2 handed hammer
Imp blunt Necro ring x2
Royal blunt Necro ring x2
Skain frost charm
190 poacher ammy
Level 6 grey bear and level 6 silver chicken

Kind of a weird build, but it works for my needs. With that I have the following:
7876 with frenzy
4400 damage
3300 defense
1800 str
9.5k defense

I run rupture, shatter, pummel, frenzy, taunt atm. Taunt because I sometime trilog mini bosses and tank in a jam. Eventually when I get EDL shield I’ll drop something to run shield bash as well.

How do you know your own dps and of others? Is there a dps meter addon or something? Just by looking at the numbers jumping on your little screen and overlapping with each other will not be a way to determine or compare dps. Same goes for theorising about having and not having edl weapons and whatnot. To answer the op's question, first and foremost, we need to find a method to determine dps. All the previous talk is wishful thinking and nonsense without that.

One way of knowing dps is actually testing... I went to the pirate boss and ran three sets of heroic attack/haste lix and would run the boss down to redline. Switching from 2h hammer and 1h hammer and axe offhand each time. What did I find? Going off of pure auto damage alone, no skills, it took on average 2:45 seconds and 5.5 crits average for the 1handed blunt to get the boss redlined, whereas it took the 2hander on average 2:37 and 3 crits on average to redline it.

The highest crit I had with either weapon in that span was 7, and the lowest I had was 1. That's one way to determine dps... you could even go as far as recording yourself and tallying up each hit to get a final damage count and then figuring what you're doing per second.

Another key indicator of dps, who is getting the kill on the boss.

Warriors definitely aren't burst damage, but add in their higher level of tankiness, they generally don't lay on the ground nearly as much a rogues. Still decent dps but not something to write home about. If they were given damage on their armour like rogue/ranger DL/EDL and a real dps offhand, they'd be a lot closer in dps.

if warriors had a proper edl offhand and full doch gul they would out dps other classes as they have op skills
