Earlier this month Apple released new guidelines for In-App Purchases (IAP's) stating that loot box odds need to be disclosed among some other changes. This caught on fire on the forums until it was randomly moved to off-topic, even though the entire thread was entirely topical to the game, it discussed what possible effects the drop rates being disclosed could have in game, sparked curiosity about drop rates leading for example, to goodies simulator, and it also consisted of players asking when OTM plans on releasing the drop rates.
I heard a rumor recently that OTM was intentionally moving the threads to off topic in hopes the issue fades away so that they don't need to disclose, arguing that Apple's new rules don't apply to them. This seemed silly to me, how could the rules now apply? The chests are clearly loot boxes, and there aren't any loopholes in Apple's new rules, so how could they not apply? The last part of the rumor I heard was that OTM if pressured, by apple I assume, would release phony odds. Personally, I don't get what all this hush-hush about the odds is, as was already well proved in the other two forum threads on this, even if the odds were horrific, for example worse than goodies listed odds, players would still buy chests.
All the odds do is give a rough idea what players are buying.
So... OTM...I don't want to believe the rumor I have heard because it doesn't make sense to me why a company would panic and risk ignoring rules from their largest market over something as small as drop rates for loot boxes or chests or whatever you want to call them. So... when are the drop rates being released?
so OTM...Chest Drop Rates...When are you disclosing them?
