I recently started out a mage (again) and I came across the following problem:

Right now im a fire mage lvl 61, but only using firebolt, fire att and fire lure, as i cannot find a firestorm manual.
On ice skills on the other hand, I have both iceblast and ice shards.

Should I switch to Ice build and get ice att (which is a lot easier to get than firestorm) or stay the fire build I am at the moment and try to get firestorm (which will take a very long time and will be fairly expensive)

Your gear at that level is probably not exactly fantastic, so if you do switch to ice temporarily due to having access to the tomes, does not prevent you from switching back once you do find fire storm.

Also keep in mind that although fire is somewhat superior to ice, getting gear for ice will be easier for you in the long-run which can put you ahead of under-geared fire mages who are still waiting for good gear.

It all depends on how many ice/fire mages are in your clan or server.
