Changing DOTs to stack would unfortunately require significant re balancing of skill damage and boss HP.

It has been something discussed previously in the office but with no significant time put towards it.

May be something we look into in the future.

If this is the case, why not add to Druid skills? Druids have the hardest time killing and leveling and half their DPS is from DoTs.

Or my personal vendetta of spite for rogues. Change it to wrath like what rangers have. Something useful on bosses.

Or just give us the intital dmg like rend has to make up for the lost dmg in dot

Rend doesnt work that way, the “impact” rend does is just your regular auto attack damage that applies a bleed. It doesnt do any bonus damage or gain any dps. Frostbite would be a better comparison

The point still stands. The DoT has an impact regardless of where the damage comes from.

They way I see it you can be suffering from multiple cuts (rends) the more fire/cold the worse it gets... and the more vines the tighter it will be. In the real world DOT obviously stacks, so why not in the game?

+1

Why cant ingame mobs suffer cuts to their knee, arm, chest, back(rend stack x4)..?

People may actually use some of these skills again of they stacked.

Let's be honest; half the skills in the game have always been broken, unusable, and unbalanced. Little to no effort has ever been made to balance the useless list of skills for each class, so why is balance in this case a concern all of a sudden? It would help the player base significantly if DOTs stacked. It would help curb the number of potions and other plat items players have to use if bosses were downed that much quicker. Consequently, that's likely one of the real reasons OTM has never made this change.

Anyway, I just thought it was kind of ironic that you bring up skill damage balancing when numerous skills in the game have always been under-powered and broken/unusable.

Personally I don’t see why the skills need balancing, dot skills are in general very underwhelming. Incinerate does same damage as half a fire bolt but takes 20 seconds for full effect, rend does like 1 auto worth of DOT. Rupture, vines, and swarm are only decent DOT, but they are also main DPS skills for those classes.
Boss health may need to be adjusted slightly, but I wouldn’t even say that is necessary.
