Resetting not the way to fix server lag

#1
Otm has been resetting servers almost daily but the lag issue has not been fixed. It should be clear by now that resetting doesn't solve the problem. Unless you identify the root cause, it is pointless to keep resetting. Go get an external expert to help you identify the root cause since your internal IT people are unable to identify it and solve the problem.

They know this but its just providing a few hours where their players can actually "play". I wonder if cooking is putting strain on the back end but I really dont know too much about servers.

The team doesnt work on weekends, hopfully the issue will be resolved in the next day or two

The team isn't just flipping the switch on and off hoping for different results. They'll make adjustments (hopeful fixes) and then implement those changes. The team is still currently investigating the root cause and working on a solution for the current server latency and performance issues.

Think of it like this. You're car stops working, so you look under the hood and see that you need to change a spark plug or two. Okay, so you've fixed the spark plug issue; go and turn on the are; oh wait! It still doesn't run properly. You get back under the hood and keep finding something and fixing and adjusting till you get the car purring like a pussycat. Sometimes, it isn't as simple as it appeared to be on the surface.

The team is still working under the hood to get to the root cause and get the servers back to purring condition.

Any estimates on how long it will take?

Might as well add second update as well now and deal with all problems at once instead of dealing with problems every update.

If the team still can't establish the root cause after so long, with due respect, I think they are incompetent. Trial and error approach to solving the server lag problem will not get you anywhere.
Maybe I explained that poorly. I was hoping the analogy would help.

Let's try again.

The team isn't implementing items based on "trial and error". They aren't guessing at fixes. They are fixing items and finding other items to fix. It's not a simple solution, rather it is a complicated one.

Apologies, there still isn't an ETA on a more permanent solution.

They are not fixing anything. The server lag is persisting despite the claim they are are fixing it. They are only trying to fix it but without success which means they do not know what causes the lag. If you do not know what causes the lag, how do u fit it? At best you are just guessing and based on the guess, implement solution that doesn't really fix the problem.

Why is it that the items that they are fixing did not result in any improvement? So what exactly are they fixing? Whatever they are fixing, the main problem of server lag has not been fixed. Looks like a case of barking up the wrong tree to me.
