1. Will it be for all animal mounts? My 85% horse would love some combat
2. Is the mounted combat automatic or will a special item be required to have weapons and a mount simultaneously?

Currently, it is only the new Wolf and Bear that you will be able to use in mounted combat.
Previous mounts are not designed to use the new system.

It's pretty much the same as pets. The battle mounts increase in speed every time it's leveled up with 100-109% being the fastest (lvl 6 mount). The stats are nothing but very high evades although I think I heard that the stats will be tweaked. Also comes with a dmg skill

You buy mounts with mount tokens, purchased from chests. You need 128 tokens for the top tier lvl6 just like pets. If you die on one, you will need to use a mount idol (whistle) before you can use any weapon abled mount again, or go to the castle and pay 100g.

On my server pretty much all mounts are now selling for cheap due to the new mounts having permenant 109% speed (fastest yet of any) and a good dps skill (also unlike any mount to date).

Older mounts are incompatible with the mounted combat system so cannot be modified.
