Max Skill Level?

I did some research and people are saying 50, is this correct?

Correct. If you have 49 points in a skill and you equip a +4 ring, it will cap at 50. Some skills will bug and say 51 if you try adding more points, but that's just a visual bug and the damage/effect is the same as level 50.
HOWEVER for lures/vines/related skills the bugged level 51 skill will prevent a level 50 skill from landing. The 50 skill is "resisted". However this is not something you really need to worry about.
