Pierce and slash are probably both quite relevant for your weapon of choice (a blade, I assume), so both these types of damage bonus is affected and mutiplied according to your expertise with your weapon. If you check out your shield in inventory, it is defined as weapon, and not as armour. Ancient weapons do not generally give resist bonuses.
